Welcome to our home Part Two - Living & Study

When it comes to furnishing this home, I begin with fulfilling the basics...replacing Office Depot, Costco and Target plastic disposable furniture we have been relying on in our rental unit for the past couple of years. There are a few pieces I've had since my Hong Kong days...that long wooden bench me and my Dad discovered in Sai Kung, HK...that sideboard I purchased with Leung at Aluminum in Wanchai...they go wherever I go...I still believe my idea to use a long wooden bench as the entertainment center a brilliant idea! As I put this home together...I realize subconsciously...everything I have picked matches or is the same color of my cat! And you know what, he is the exact same color as the double cream white oak floor! (check out amazing wood flooring by Nikzad at www.nikzad.com) I cant wait to pick a few wooden decorative pieces from my parents to jazz up this place!

To the left is the oversize Adesso Atlas Floor Lamp I found on Amazon! So happy with it because it was an amazing deal. It was impossible to find a designy posh looking floor lamp out there below $200...and I found you!!!

Peekaboo!

These were the last batch of roses as Winter begins...

Beautiful wide planks white oak flooring by Nikzad.

My dear television bench...and I'm not going to take credit of the setup on top of it!

The coffee table was a real real real bargain from Living Spaces...it even came with two end tables which I have used it in the bedroom as nightstands.

I bought these two kittens from Etsy...they were our ring cushion and ring bearer! All the three big white cushions are from previous IKEA furniture I had...they still hold up well and my cat love laying his head on them!

The giant task lamp is going to suck up Far Sung!

Simon suggested to install a ceiling fan in the study, since all the computers, monitors can quickly heat up the room during the very warm summer days up here.

IKEA PS cabinet is definitely a signature piece, I'm using it as our print center!

I found this Restoration Hardware-like sideboard at Living Spaces for close to half the price! ( I know, dont judge, not the hippest place to shop but hey...where ever I can find a great bargain!)

Simon needed a filing cabinet to file his paperwork...you may be surprise how generic office furniture can be stylish and decorative too! I pretty much appreciate all furniture from different eras and ethnicities...I definitely love Chinese antiques or anything vintage/retro. Must have been influenced by my Dad, I recall when we were little, he would spend the weekends at antique stores hunting around for goodies. My mom, brother and I would wait in the car... my mom would say 'gosh look at him now, is he really buying more junks???!!!'
