PRIMA Lighting Catalog 2011

This is the catalog cover which I have designed for PRIMA Lighting www.primalighting.com earlier this year and I got it through the mail today! I have gotten to know Mr. Adam Lee since the first project where he assigned me to redesign PRIMA Lighting's logo and catalog cover for 2010. As the owner of the business, Mr. Lee is a very ambitious individual. He then had a vision of updating PRIMA's identity towards a more green technology driven direction. His company supplies lighting fixtures to a wide array of businesses from hotels, restaurants to corporate offices both nationally and internationally.

The graphic shapes were inspired by one of PRIMA's new lighting fixture.

Uncle Fung & His Cameras

As I have mentioned in my previous San Francisco Blog, Auntie and Uncle Fung took me in almost a month when I was in the city looking for a job many years ago. I have one very vivid memory of Uncle Fung. After about a week staying at their house, one night I caught Uncle Fung digging through his boxes of metal bits and pieces in the kitchen...later I realized that he was looking for a key chain, to loop around a set of house keys which he handed to me for easier access in and out of the house...I was so touched...and this is how I will always remember Uncle Fung, that he was such a gentle considerate man. This trip to San Francisco, while cousin Betty was making my bed in the guest room, I was telling her how I have been trying to pick up my long lost passion of photography again, then she rolled out two huge plastic storage boxes in the guest room, and they are filled with vintage cameras which Uncle Fung collected over the years! I was like in candyland! Although I do not have much knowledge of vintage cameras, I liked anything retro and they all looked so unique to me. I later asked Uncle Auntie Fung, if Uncle had ever used these cameras...she said 'oh yes, he used to take big cameras with him when we traveled, and I was very annoyed with him for hulking along all these heavy equipments, and you know what, he only came back with pictures of peoples' feet!!' I find that very funny! Uncle Fung left us about three years ago, I wish I had gotten to know him more...But I will always hold onto that one special piece of memory I share with him...These pictures were taken one morning around their house...I skipped breakfast and tried to look for natural lights and interesting settings to photograph these babies.

Faces & Food in Napa Valley, CA

The Winchester Mystery House, San Jose, CA

I came upon the story about The Winchester Mystery House one evening while surfing on the internet. This Mrs. Winchester, who was married to Mr. Winchester, the owner of the Winchester Firearm Company, spend many millions of dollars to renovate her house on a daily basis, in order to drive away evil spirits who she believed robbed the lives of her husband and son! I was quite intrigued by the story and it definitely made it to my to-do wish list. I arrived to San Francisco a day earlier, the next day, Betty and I ventured down to San Jose to visit the mansion. Pictures were not allowed inside the house, you will have to go check it out! http://www.winchestermysteryhouse.com/

D-U-I Through Rolling Hills in Napa Valley, CA

The first time I drove through Napa Valley was with my roommate Agatha back in school...I remembered the never ending rolling hills kept unfolding in front of us as we drove along, it was so beautiful. The second time I went was with cousin Betty, we just drink whatever we had our hands on and I got a massive headache by the time we headed back to San Francisco! This time, once again, Betty was our designated driver, not only we had forbidded her to drink, we must had exhausted her with all the driving! I still owe Betty a cup of Starbucks for making all these photo opps stops for me!

Welcome to our wine tasting adventure!

Red grapes about to ripe!

Little hut off the road, saw a lot of these along the way.

Random vineyard we came upon one morning.

I believe this picture was taken at the SilverOak Vineyard.

Beringer Vineyard...I enjoyed this vineyard the most and I loved their white wine!

Beringer Vineyard, it was our last stop for this Napa trip.

Some of us picked a few grapes, they were so sour!

Bits of these plants were caught and cling onto my tee shirt.
